The medieval town of Obidos is one of Portugal's picturesque gems! Narrow cobbled streets, lined typically with whitewashed,houses, wind up to the walled interior. The name Óbidos stems from the Latin for citadel. Nearby is the large lagoon Lagoa de Óbidos where you can swim, sunbathe, hire canoes, kayaks or even windsurfing equipment. Not much further away to the other side of Praia d'El Rey lie the beaches around Peniche and Baleal famous for their various surfing waves.
